Microdrive Data Recovery

Our Microdrive data recovery service recovers lost, deleted or damaged data from Microdrives. The Microdrive recovery can recover all types of data files including digital photos, videos and music from any type of Microdrive. We recover Microdrive data from manufacturers such as IBM, Hitachi, Seagate and Sony. Microdrives are also known as 1-inch hard drives.

There are many ways in which these hard disk drives can become damaged or unreadable and need a Microdrive data recovery. The Microdrive is a miniature hard disk and is subject to many of the standard hard drive failures. The majority of Microdrive failures (about 80%) are the result of excessive G Force - they are dropped, knocked or banged against something hard. Most Microdrives will not survive a 4 foot drop. Newer Microdrives have a mechanism that holds the heads off the platter while the device is not in use. However, the first Microdrives do not have this and are easily damaged.

Microdrive data recovery may be required if the device cannot be read. If your Microdrive reader takes a long time to read the microdrive card it could indicate damage to the device. Slow response could indicate damage such as bad sector. Our Microdrive recovery will attempt to recover data from bad sectors then flag them so they are not used again. Our Microdrive specialists can read 'raw' data using forensic tools and transfer recovered data to CD or DVD.
